Join us for a Mindfulness in Nature Walk at the Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, Lincoln, MA. We will begin our time together in the Pond House, a small cabin on the edge of Drumlin Farm. The cabin will serve as our home base. In case of inclement weather, most of our mindfulness practices will take place there and the immediate surround. November is a month of transition.The blazing golds and reds that illuminate the tree tops in early autumn are no longer, bare branches reach upward to the sky and brown fallen leaves cover the ground. A new beauty, a starker beauty, unfolds its mystery. In our meditations we will explore this mystery and walk more deeply into the woods of our own being. The farmland and woodland of late November offer us an opportunity to be baffled by the sheer mystery of existence. Within that mystery awe and wonder await. Depending on the weather we may meander in the barn yard, attuning to the animal and plant life surrounding us, then walk along the crop fields which lead to an easy hike to the top of the drumlin, one of the highest points in the greater Boston area, on which you can see Mount Wachusett on a clear day.  Along the walk, through a variety of mindfulness practices, participants will be invited to reawaken to the wonder and beauty that surrounds as well as turn inward to see how nature is reflected in our own being. Each mindful practice is designed to nourish our body, mind and spirit. As we settle into the rhythms of the natural world, our bodies relax, our minds quiet and our hearts open. No meditation experience is required only a willingness to stay curious, attentive and open to being in a new way. Mindfulness practices will include seated, standing and meandering. Please dress appropriately for the weather. This walk will be attuning to the sights, sounds and felt experience of being in nature so participants will be encouraged to refrain from conversation during the walk though ample time will be set aside for questions and reflections about the practices. There is a small fee which covers the cost of the Pond House rental and entry to the farm.
